Yes, absolutely. Our board-certified ophthalmologists specialize in diagnosing and treating advanced conditions like cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye, corneal ulcers, and retinal diseases in both dogs and cats.
We know that hearing your pet has a serious eye condition can be stressful. We simplify the process by explaining complex medical issues in plain language and outlining clear, step-by-step treatment options.
To precisely monitor your pet's healing, we use digital photography to track their progress from visit to visit. These visual records allow us to tailor treatment plan adjustments dynamically, ensuring your pet stays on the fastest path to comfort and sight.

Yes, diabetic cataracts should be treated as an urgent situation.
Cataracts caused by diabetes can develop incredibly fast. This creates leaking of lens proteins and rapid swelling of the lens. These processes cause severe, hidden inflammation inside the eye that can quickly lead to painful complications like glaucoma. If left untreated, this inflammation can damage the eye so severely that cataract surgery becomes much more difficult or even impossible.
Getting your pet evaluated quickly and starting specialized topical treatments is the single best way to protect their eyes from secondary damage and preserve their chances for successful vision-restoration surgery.
Because early intervention is so critical, Animal Eye Clinic offers free initial examinations for all pets recently diagnosed with diabetes. Please call us immediately to secure a priority appointment.

If it has eyes, we treat it!
We love helping all creatures, great and small. While dogs and cats make up a large portion of our practice, our board-certified ophthalmologists are trained to treat a wide variety of species—including horses, birds, reptiles, pocket pets, and other exotic animals.
Because these unique patients often have very specific care or scheduling requirements, please call our team directly so we can discuss your animal's needs and how to best accommodate their visit:

No, a referral is not required to schedule an appointment with us. You are always welcome to contact either of our offices directly to book a visit.
It is completely okay to schedule an appointment with us even if your pet has not seen their regular veterinarian for this specific eye problem yet. If your pet has been evaluated by their vet, we highly prefer to receive any pertinent medical history before you arrive so we can review past treatments and medications.
To ensure absolute continuity of care, our specialists will communicate directly with your regular veterinarian after each and every visit. We send detailed updates and reports back to their office so everyone stays on the exact same page regarding your pet's ongoing health and treatment plan.

Yes, most pet insurance companies do cover cataract surgery and other chronic eye conditions. However, coverage typically depends on your specific policy and whether the eye issue was noted as a pre-existing condition before your insurance plan started.
To simplify the process for you, our team is always happy to help you communicate with your provider, fill out necessary claim forms, and provide the medical records or invoices you need.
Please keep in mind that most pet insurance companies operate on a reimbursement model. This means you will take care of the payment at our clinic at the time of service, and your insurance company will reimburse you directly based on your policy's coverage details

Because every pet’s eyes are unique, the total cost of a visit varies depending on the specific diagnostic tests your pet needs.
During an initial consultation, our board-certified specialists use advanced, highly specialized equipment to evaluate your pet's vision, measure internal eye pressure, and check for hidden inflammation or microscopic damage. Our goal is to simplify specialty care by keeping it transparent—we will always discuss the costs of any recommended diagnostics, treatments, or surgeries with you before they are performed.
We do not offer payment plans, but we do accept CareCredit. For an accurate estimate based on your pet's current symptoms, or to learn more about the payment options we accept please give our friendly front office team a call!
